DIY Kitchen Decor
I have a confession to make. I like cute kitchens but I don’t actually like using them for their intended purpose. Cooking and grocery shopping are high on the list of my least favorite tasks. I would much rather spend my time crafting and browsing the internet for craft ideas. These Dollar Tree craft projects are a reflection of my desire to have cute kitchen decor with a little bit of sass sprinkled in just for fun.
Covered Cake Stand and Decorative Cake
This DIY was inspired by Wendy from White Sparrow Living. I saw her create similar pieces on her YouTube channel and wanted to try to create my own version.
I used a plate, candle holder, and garden cloche to create the covered cake stand. The cake was made with a styrofoam cake round from Michaels and a container of inexpensive spackle from Dollar Tree.
Highland Cow Mason Jar
For this piece, I painted a mason jar cutout from Dollar Tree and added an adorable highland cow graphic that I found on Cricut Design Space. I used a makeup sponge to dab a bit of Waverly Wax on the jar's perimeter to add dimension.
Mini Ladder with Custom Towel
Would you believe that this mini ladder is made with Dollar Tree plunger handles? I used my miter saw to trim the handles to size and assembled the pieces with wood glue. I cut the text out of Cricut Infusible Ink and applied it to a flour sack towel with the help of my Cricut Easy Press. To embellish the ladder, I created a garland with some wood beads and a scoop.
Felt Strawberries
My friend Tiffany gifted me adorable berry basket so I decided to create some felt berries to fill the container. I crafted these berries using Dollar Tree felt, polyester filling, and white fabric paint. They turned out better than I expected!
Sarcastic Cutting Board
This simple Dollar Tree DIY was created to remind visitors to keep their expectations low when visiting my house for a meal. In its former life, this cutting board was an Easter decor piece from Dollar Tree but with the help of some poster board and a vinyl decal, it has been transformed into a fun piece of snarky kitchen decor.
