Dollar Tree Christmas DIYs: Volume 2

DIY

The Christmas season is upon us and I have been busy transforming inexpensive Dollar Tree items into adorable pieces of holiday decor for my home.

Mistletoe Sign

This Dollar Tree DIY came together very quickly. I started with a tall black Dollar Tree sign that I had left over from the fall and added an inexpensive sprig of mistletoe from the Target Dollar Spot to the top. Then I wrapped small strips of ribbon around the top and bottom that I picked up on sale at Hobby Lobby. To finish this project, I added a champagne gold vinyl decal that I cut out with my Cricut machine. I am so happy with the way this inexpensive Christmas craft came together.

Photo Display

For this project, I used one pre-made ornament and covered two Dollar Tree houses with Christmas cardstock that I picked up at Hobby Lobby. I glued the houses to a Dollar Tree wood plaque that I painted black and added a bit of Dollar Tree artificial snow for a little extra sparkle. After adding a vinyl decal and a simple embellishment, I added a photo of my favorite Christmas movie family to the clothespin and that was it for this easy photo display.

JOY Blocks

This adorable piece of decor was made with three wood cubes from the Crafter’s Square section of Dollar Tree. I coated the cubes with Antique Wax and then placed vinyl letters on the cubes to spell the word JOY. I painted over the cubes and letters with Lacquer chalk paint and then peeled off the vinyl letters. To finish, I added a bit of distressing by going over the edges of the cubes with sandpaper.

Snowy Window

This project was inspired by a small Christmas ornament that I saw on Etsy.

I wanted to create my own version of the ornament and was excited when I found a window with a similar shape at Dollar Tree. After painting the window, I used transparency film as the glass for the window. I cut two pieces of transparency film to fit on the back of the window and put chunky glitter between the pieces of film to give the illusion of snow. I painted tree cutouts from Dollar Tree and glued all of the pieces to the back of the window.
