Inexpensive DIY Teacher Gifts
Are you looking for a gift idea for a special teacher in your life? Showing appreciation to teachers doesn’t have to cost a lot of money and I’m here to help you create four inexpensive gifts to show your favorite teachers how much you appreciate them.
Thank You Card
As a former teacher, the best gifts I ever received from students and parents were heartfelt notes of gratitude. Kind words of thanks from families were priceless to me so I make it a point to write a note of appreciation to my children’s teachers each year.
For this project, I created a thank you card using Cricut’s new cutaway cards and my Cricut Joy machine.
I really like the new cutaway cards from Cricut and I look forward to using them to create more personalized cards in the future!
Apple Crate
For this DIY, I painted a wooden crate that I picked up from Dollar Tree.
I created the “You Rule” sign using a plant marker from Dollar Tree, a small strip of ruler washi tape, and a few alphabet stickers from my stash.
To finish it off, I added a Starbucks gift card and some of my favorite candies.
Canvas Pouch
For this simple project, I picked up an inexpensive canvas pouch from the craft section at Walmart.
I used my Cricut Joy to cut an adorable design out of infusible ink. The design was found in Cricut Design Space.
Then I used my Cricut Easy Press Mini to press the infusible ink into the canvas pouch.
To finish off this simple gift, I added some candy, a gift card, and a few fun highlighters.
Potted Plant
Is your child’s teacher a plant lover? If so, this final budget-friendly project is perfect for you!
I started by using my Cricut Joy to cut the phrase “Thank you for helping me grow” out of black permanent vinyl.
After weeding the vinyl, I applied the phrase to the space at the top of another plant label from Dollar Tree.
Next, I removed the labels from an empty Oui yogurt jar.
I filled the jar with soil, removed a small baby plant from one of my houseplants and added it to the jar.
Then I trimmed the plant label and placed it in the jar.
I felt like the jar was missing something so I wrapped some red and white baker’s twine around the top of the jar a few times.
I tied the twine in a simple bow and that was it for this easy project.
